Swift Delivery at ECA MarketPlace 2026

The 2026 ECA (Express Carriers Association) Marketplace gives participants a direct look at how the market is changing. Discussions are practical, not just theoretical. The need for solutions is urgent, as these changes affect daily work at docks, job sites, and warehouses across the region. At the conference, carriers meet with shippers who either have an urgent need for logistic services in a certain region, or who are building their stable of carriers for future. A 15 minute speed-dating interview takes place to see if each is a “good fit”. Also vendors are displaying the latest technology for the industry.

Here’s what we’re seeing in the last-mile delivery market

Speed is expected, but reliability is what wins

Every organization wants quick delivery, but what they really need is trust in their delivery process. Missing delivery schedules causes costly issues, like crews waiting for materials, project delays, and strained customer relationships. More companies are now choosing ‘time-definite by design’ over ‘fast when possible’ because B2B deliveries must follow strict access rules and appointment times.

Complex delivery environment

Deliveries now go far beyond retail stores. Teams deliver to job trailers, secure buildings, and active construction sites, all of which have strict entry rules. Last-mile delivery needs extra planning, including liftgate equipment, delivery notes, and proof that the right items reach the right place. The last 100 feet are where service quality is judged, but this is also where most avoidable problems happen.

Visibility

More people stay quiet about delivery issues, which leads to frustration. Customers can handle problems, but they dislike being caught off guard. Real-time tracking, accurate ETAs, and photo confirmations are now must-haves, not just nice extras. Distributors need to pay special attention to supporting contractors. Crews need early warnings about delays so they can adjust their schedules and avoid wasting time.

Reliable Partner

We’re seeing more interest in hybrid logistics, combining short-term storage, cross-docking, and pick-and-pack, then moving goods quickly to where they’re needed. Most businesses aren’t looking for long-term storage. What they need is a secure facility that makes it easy to move freight between short-term holding and immediate delivery across the city. This approach speeds up production and cuts down on extra handling, which means less damage and fewer delays.

Dedicated routes are back in focus

Many organizations are building their own transportation operations. Delivery volumes are steady, but the windows for delivery keep shrinking. Reliable systems come from working with experienced drivers on set routes. Training dedicated drivers to know access rules and receiver preferences leads to fewer exceptions and faster stops.

Smarter distribution

The market isn’t just shopping for the lowest rate. It’s looking for fewer surprise fees, fewer re-deliveries, and cleaner invoices. Pooled distribution, route optimization, and right-sized vehicles are becoming the tools that protect margins without sacrificing service.
